Explore New York City

Outdoor Adventures In New York City

After a long winter of snow, ice, and freezing temperatures, spring has arrived in New York City. As the weather warms up, it’s time to get ouside and enjoy the Big Apple.

EXPLORE CENTRAL PARK

Start exploring from the heart of midtown at Marriott Vacation Club Pulse®, New York City. From here, it’s a short walk to the south entrance of Central Park, the city’s front lawn. Follow the locals’ lead here: Catch some rays on the Sheep Meadow lawn, jog around the reservoir loop, enjoy a picnic in the Shakespeare Garden, take a rowboat out on the lake, or visit the wild menagerie in the Central Park Zoo.Aerial view of Central Park

ENJOY A COSMIC EXPERIENCE

For even more greenery, the 250 landscaped acres at The New York Botanical Garden are always impressive in the spring, when brilliant orchids fill the glass conservatory. This year, there’s an even bigger draw running from April 10 to October 31 — “KUSAMA: Cosmic Nature.” The exhibition nestles artist Yayoi Kusama’s monumental polka-dotted pumpkins, car-sized flower sculptures, and infinity mirrored room amongst the garden’s colorful meadow grasses, flowers, water lilies, and trees.

STROLL THE HIGH LINE

New York’s raised park, the High Line, runs parallel to the Hudson River and is perfect for a relaxing afternoon. Along the landscaped pedestrian path are public art installations, outdoor cafes, and gourmet snack stands, as well as expansive wooden recliners to kick back and soak up the sun. For the best people-watching — one of New York’s most popular spring activities — take a seat at the 10th Avenue Overlook, a picture window overlooking the street below.High Line in New York CityNew York City skyline

GET A VIEW FROM THE TOP

For the best views of the iconic New York City skyline in spring and summer, you have to go up. Top of the Rock elevates you to the 70th floor of the famed 30 Rock building for a bird’s-eye view of Rockefeller Center.

Want to go higher? The Edge at Hudson Yards lets you gaze 100 stories down through the glass floor. For a true adrenaline rush, lean out over the Hudson River on angled glass walls.

Higher still? Climb up to the 102nd floor of the Empire State Building for 360-degree views of midtown. Or head to Lower Manhattan for the One World Observatory, offering unmatched vistas reaching over the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.

Some of the most panoramic views in the city can be enjoyed without leaving your home-away-from-home at Top of the Strand, the rooftop bar at Marriott Vacation Club Pulse, New York City. The retractable roof makes it a perfect open-air spot to sample handcrafted cocktails and gourmet eats while you gaze at the city’s twinkling lights.

WHERE TO STAY

Marriott Vacation Club Pulse®, New York City, is located in the heart of the Fashion District. Here, you’ll find modern guestrooms just a short walk from Bryant Park, Times Square, and premium retail shopping.
